All of these fields are optional. For example, you can leave the Word field empty, and just search for high frequency verbs, medium frequency adjectives, or low frequency nouns. Or you could search for high or medium-frequency *ate words. Or you could search for nouns in Science or adjectives in Medicine or any word in Law.
You can use wildcards; for example *ate, re*ate, or *able.
You can limit by part of speech, such as medium frequency nouns, verbs, or adjectives. And this can be combined with other searches, such as nouns in Science, adjectives in Medicine, or high frequency verbs ending in *ize.
You can show the words whose frequency is higher in one of the nine academic domains, such as Science, Education, or Law. Some of these words may not actually be part of the Academic Vocabulary List, since it includes only those words that are spread across several domains of academic English. If you want to limit the results to the words that are part of the AVL, select that option.
You can select a particular frequency range in the AVL, either by the links above (e.g. 500+ = 500 to 999), or a custom frequency range of your own choosing, such as words near #500, #1200, or #2050. And (as is shown in the other searches above), you can combine this with word form, part of speech, or domain.
